University Scholars must fully participate in the required components of the University Scholars Support Program each academic year.
Exceptions to the program participation requirement are made for students who are off-campus for a given semester while involved in student teaching, study abroad, National Student Exchange, full-time internships or full-time co-op experiences.
University Scholars are required to maintain a 2.75 cumulative GPA to retain the $5,000 annual University Scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters and to enjoy the benefits of the University Scholars Support Program.
The University Scholarship and associated benefits may be revoked if the cumulative GPA falls below 2.75 at the completion of a given semester. However, the University Scholars Committee may choose to place the student on scholarship probation and renew the scholarship.
If the University Scholar fails to maintain at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA at the completion of a given semester, the University Scholars Renewal Petition must be submitted by the designated deadline. Upon reviewing the renewal petition, the University Scholars Committee will consider the following:
If the Committee approves the renewal petition, the scholarship will be renewed and the student will be immediately placed on University Scholars probation. If the Committee denies the renewal petition, the scholarship and associated benefits will be immediately revoked. The decision of the University Scholars Committee is final.

The University Scholars staff will develop an individualized probation program for each student placed on University Scholars probation. The requirements of the probation program will be detailed in the University Scholars probation contract which must be signed by the probationary student.
Students placed on probation by the University Scholars Committee must:
The probationary status allows students to raise their cumulative GPA while continuing to enjoy the benefits of the University Scholars Support Program. If at the completion of the probationary period the student fails to make satisfactory progress towards attaining a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, the scholarship and associated benefits will revoked.
