Students: Preview Living at Illinois State - Stay in the residence halls!
Overnight accommodations are available in Atkin-Colby halls for students and family members or guests attending Preview. Most students stay in Atkin-Colby halls during Preview. Please visit our program fees to review the cost of overnight fees for staying in the residence halls. Students, including commuters, report they enjoyed the overnight stay because:
- It is more convenient for attending evening sessions.
- Staying in the residence hall makes it easier to be on time to the required second-day sessions that begin early.
- Having a roommate for one night is good experience.
- Getting more comfortable with the environment eases anxiety when returning in August.
- The overnight experience is the best way to meet and make friends.
Family members may stay in Atkin-Colby halls as well. Although housed in the same residence hall, family members will be on different floors than the students. Family members have commented that spending the night was a great opportunity to experience their students' new world. Though many stay in the residence hall, it is not required.
Atkin-Colby halls are standard residence halls with shared restrooms. Residential quarters are equipped with two single beds, bed linens, blanket, pillows and towels.
We do not need to know how many family members and guests will attend Preview until check-in on your assigned date. You do not need to reserve an on-campus room in advance. Sufficient space will be available when you arrive on your scheduled date.
