Preview is Illinois State University’s two-day summer orientation and registration program required for all incoming freshmen.

Preview is designed to assist you in adjusting to your new environment at Illinois State. The Preview staff, along with the entire campus community, is committed to making your transition to university life as successful as possible.

What is Preview?

Students come to Illinois State University from a variety of backgrounds and cultures. Preview provides students the opportunity to interact with their peers and begin building relationships as they make the adjustment to life at Illinois State.

While attending Preview, students will have the opportunity to meet with their academic advisor, register for classes, meet current Illinois State students and their future classmates, interact with faculty and staff from various academic departments, and receive their Redbird ID card. In addition, students will have the chance to discover the various opportunities provided at Illinois State including involvement in student organizations, volunteer opportunities, support services, and many other aspects of being a Redbird.

Orientation for Transfer Students

Illinois State's Transfer Registration Program allows incoming transfer students to meet with their academic advisor, register for classes, obtain a Redbird Card (student ID) and experience some of the other services available to Illinois State students. Learn more about our Transfer Day Program.
